How do I register for the Spanish placement test?
Step 1: In order to use the online payment system for the Spanish Placement Exam, you will need to open an account at marketplace.tamu.edu, the university designated web interface for purchasing. It is suggested that you use your tamu.edu email address.
Step 2: Once you have created an account, update your profile to reflect the correct billing address. You are then ready to continue shopping.
Step 3: On the right hand side of the screen, you will see a drop down menu that reads SELECT A STORE. Select DEPT OF HISPANIC STUDIES.

Step 4: Once in the store interface, you will see two boxes, Spanish Placement Exam – Native Speakers and Spanish Placement Exam – Second Language. Select the appropriate option using the questions provided in the exam description.
Step 5: Complete all fields requested on the form. Any fields left blank may cause delays confirming your registration.
Step 6: Provide your requested day and time for the appropriate test
Step 7: Pay $30 with a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card. Please contact Annette Garcia at email@example.com if you need assistance.
Step 8: After payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation page and an email. Please print both pages.
Step 9: If you need to cancel, contact Annette Garcia at firstname.lastname@example.org at least 3 business days prior to the date of the exam for a refund. In your email please provide your UIN or order number so we can expedite your request.
Important: if you are registered for an exam and do not show up, your card will still be charged.

THE PLACEMENT EXAM TEST FORMAT IS NOW ONLINE
The exam will be administered online. Students signed up to take the HISP Placement Exam will receive an email with instructions on how to take the online exam the day before their exam date. On the exam date students will have the opportunity to choose the best time to take the online exam. Disability Services (DS) provides testing accommodations for eligible students with disabilities. Reasonable testing accommodations are provided to allow students with documented disabilities an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. In order to receive testing accommodations, the student must submit documentation to DS at least two weeks prior to the scheduled testing date.
